California
Everybody who visits the United States does at least know two states and their approximate location: California and Florida. My boyfriend and I were staying in San Jose close to San Francisco for a week in March and explored the Bay area. The name California is said to be derived from a mythical paradise known as Calafia, which was pictured in a Spanish novel. California is the state with the highest population and is probably best known today for its wines and its governor and famous actor Arnold Schwarzenegger, which was first very popular but recently is said to have better stayed out of politics. However, California is one of the more liberal states - legalized medical Marijuana and a huge gay population in San Francisco are only two examples of it.
